Holmfirth Festival of Folk 2011
Thu 28 April, 2011Next weekend – Friday 6th to Sunday 8th May – sees the annual Holmfirth Festival of Folk, bringing lively music and cheery people to the streets and outlets of Holmfirth and the Holme Valley. It all starts with a pre-festival gig by Show of Hands at the Picturedrome and has all manner of ceilidhs, workshops, dances, gigs and other events throughout the weekend. And some great beer at the Nook, to go with the live music. There’s always plenty to do around our local area when we’re not roasting coffee!
The Holme Valley Fair Trade Support Group is running a fair trade stall from 10am – 2pm outside the Methodist Church, where there are drumming activities being held too and there will also be events on at the Fair Traders Co-op.
Some of the events are free, some ticketed, but lots more info available from the Festival of Folk website

Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival 2011
Thu 28 April, 2011Grumpy Mule Distinctive Coffees is delighted to announce that we’ll have a stall at the 2011 Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival, serving Fairtrade certified cappuccinos, lattes, tea and single origin filter coffees and retailing our fantastic range of coffee packs, tins and gifts.
The free to enter, outdoor event runs from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th August 2011 in St George’s Square, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. For those not local to the area is in the town centre just outside the train station and within a very short walk of the bus station.
This is the first time we’ve attended (apart from seeing the festival in action from a customer perspective) so the whole team is excited to be involved as this is very local to us. Sounds like they’ll be some other really great food and drink producers and outlets from the Huddersfield and Holmfirth area too. Pop the dates in the diary and come along and see us there!
“Now in its 11th year the Festival has got something for everyone, with local and regional fresh produce stalls, cooked food, free cookery demonstrations, real ales and ciders and free entertainment for children including cookery workshops and circus skills.”

Tue 26 April, 2011Grumpy Mule’s Ian and Scott are heading for Houston this week for coffee’s biggest annual event, the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s Annual Exposition. With workshops, exhibitions and all things related to specialty coffee, there’ll be producers, roasters, baristas and equipment gurus all together under the same roof. Should be a grand spectacle and a great way to catch up with old friends from the industry and meet new faces.
Hopefully we’ll have a full update to report from them once they get back.
