Our Micro-lot coffees showcase the very pinnacle of specialty coffee. These are the coffees that highlight the skill of the producer and the uniqueness of the climate and terrain where the coffee grows, often at dizzying altitudes in mineral rich volcanic soils.
These limited edition coffees (often unique to Grumpy Mule in the UK and sometimes worldwide) are of the finest vintages, harvested and processed in very small batches and tended with the utmost care by skilled farmers. If you would like to experience a real treat, these are the coffees for you.

This pioneering program has been unearthing coffee gems and rewarding farmers since 1999 and it’s a program we’re proud to support.
All of our Micro-Lot coffees are artisan roasted in tiny batches on our new eco friendly Loring Smart Roaster, from Santa Rosa, California.
We chose the Smartroaster after extensive trials on our different coffees. The first difference we noticed was the amazing roast quality, with a cleaner, brighter and more uniform cup, the Smart roaster is ideally suited for roasting our microlot and roast to order coffees.
A second, and important, factor has been the reduction in our energy costs. Because the Smartroaster uses a heat recycling process, heat that used to be expelled through the exhaust is now reused for roasting. We are asking our farmers to grow coffee sustainably and now we can roast their carefully grown coffee in a more sustainable way.
